Practical Officiating

This two hour session is run by Event Horizon Sports - specialists in the management of sports officials and delivery of training course content across varied sports and is designed specifically for younger officials.

This session extends upon formal community refereeing courses by giving beginner officials the skills and confidence to manage the following situations:

• Effectively managing disagreeable coaches and players to avoid escalation
• How to rectify making the wrong call (it happens to the best of us)
• What to do when you have no idea as to what your call should be
• Effectively managing player ejections
• Effectively managing player injuries

The session will also include:

• Single official mechanics - how to manage a game solo
• Developing confident signalling mechanics
• Strategies to deal with one of the more difficult in-game decisions to make - charge or block
• Common infractions to prepare for in junior competitions

Please note that this event is run by Event Horizon Sports, a private provider of training course content to sports officials.

This is not a formal Basketball Tasmania course - it is designed by EH Sports to assist beginner officials in developing the confidence to manage the many situations they will encounter along their basketball officiating journey.
